Wildwood
Wildwood Artist 5-string bluegrass banjo. $2,250.
Based at first in California and later in Bend, Oregon, Wildwood was a small, independent builder that produced high-quality banjos. Here’s a Wildwood Artist 5-string bluegrass banjo in good condition.
As one of Wildwood’s fancier models, it features lots of decorations on the headstock and fretboard. These are made of mother-of-pearl inlaid into red abalone. The neck is black walnut with an ebony center strip, and the matching resonator is likewise of black walnut. The 26.25-inch scale neck has a 2-way adjustable truss rod.
Ebony peghead veneer, heel cap, and 22-fret fretboard. Flathead cast tone ring. Rim machined from solid rock maple blocks. Sosebee bridge; Fults tailpiece. Hardshell case included.
It has been played a fair amount, and has a spot of wear on the head, but needs to move on to someone who will appreciate and make great music with it.
