Gibson L7C
Gibson L7C archtop jazz guitar, 1948. $10,000.
Here is a lovely vintage cutaway Gibson jazz guitar in exceptionally fine condition. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Blonde spruce top, dark maple back and sides. Maple neck with rosewood fretboard and bridge. Fine example of a 17" cutaway archtop. DeArmond pickup added, with tone & volume controls and jack all mounted to the pickguard.
The neck and headstock are single bound, with triple binding on the top and back. The pearl fingerboard inlay is a parallelogram pattern with Gibson's traditional crown on the headstock. The two-foot rosewood bridge, the nickel-plated tailpiece, and the Kluson Deluxe tuning pegs with tulip buttons are the standard period fittings.
This is a fine-playing and sounding solid wood archtop acoustic/electric that sounds great both plugged and unplugged. The former owner, a long-tenured pro musician, describes it as his favorite of all his guitars. Overall length is 42 1/2 in. (108 cm), 17 in. (43.2 cm) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/4 in. (8.3 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm).
The serial number is A-2422, pointing to 1948 as the original shipping date. It comes with the original pink-lined hardshell case. $10,000 plus shipping. 48-hour approval offered. See more photos, call 425/772-0231, or for more information.
