ROno
Sierra Hull
Rono "Deluxe Workingman" baritone 5-string by Ron Oates. $3,700.
Here's a fantastic new Rono electric 5-string baritone mandolin by Ron Oates of Boulder, Colorado. With a scale length of 18.5 inches, it's designed for GDAEB tuning, like an octave mandolin with a high B string.
Chambered alder body with curly maple top. The neck is three pieces of maple, with a two way truss rod. Fretboard and headstock are straight-grained rosewood. American-made controls, switch, and jack. Strings through the body to a fully adjustable bridge. Gotoh tuners. Two Mandobucker pickups, medium fretwire and a bone nut. Finished in black with 16 coats of lacquer. Remarkable tone and playability match its exquisite looks.
Of late, three-time IBMA Mandolinist of the Year Sierra Hull has been playing her Rono baritone on the road and in the studio. It's featured on the single "Escape" from her 2020 album 25 Trips (see below). This is your chance to be like Sierra. There aren't many choices out there for players wanting to jump on the baritone bandwagon, but here's a rare opportunity to own one from the pioneer who popularized the concept in our times. See more photos, for more information. Gig bag included. $3,700 plus shipping. 48-hour approval period.
