Godin A8, natural. $1,000.
The Godin A8 gets my vote as the best electric
mandolin in its price range. Despite the lack of
soundholes, the chambered body still produces
sufficient volume for acoustic practice, and
when you plug it in, you get realistic, woody
mandolin tone with no feedback. Piezo pickup
with volume control and 3-band EQ help you shape
the sound. Gold-plated hardware and compensated
1-piece bridge. Nut width is 1.1875".
Standard 13.875" scale length.
Godin has ceased production of the A8, and as a consequence they've gotten difficult to find. But here's a nice one for your consideration. Serial number is 02374702, which indicates a completion date of Aug. 24, 2004 (the 702nd instrument completed that week). Its in very good condition overall, with light player wear. The battery compartment is a new replacement and functions as it should. Gig bag included, or upgrade to a hardshell case. See more photos, call 425/772-0231, or for more information. 48-hour approval period. $1,000 plus shipping. What's it sound like? Take it away, Eva Scow!
