EF Elliott
E.F. Elliott 5-string Bigsby copy, goldtop. $4,000.
Oklahoma's Ed Elliott mostly occupies himself with building copies of Mosrite guitars (he owns all of Semie Moseley's old shop equipment), but now and then he builds an electric mandolin. This is one of a handful of Ed's faithful copies of the Bigsby 5-string made famous by Tiny Moore.
Semihollow body with maple top and bottom plates; custom-machined tailpiece and bridge. Very close match to the original, except of course that it's finished in gold paint. Custom-wound pickups by Ed himself. Hardshell case included. This mandolin is the former property of classical mandolinist/teacher Chris Acquavella, but is now looking for a new home.
Ed says he'd charge $6,999 to build a new instrument like this one. But you can have it today for a more modest price.
