As a fan of vintage Ampeg basses, I like the through-the-body F-holes on these instruments by Florida guitar builder Ross Teigen. On the left, a standard-scale 4-string mandolin with a solid mahogany body, figured mahogany neck, ebony fretboard, Lindy Fralin pickup, volume and tone controls, and a Brazilian rosewood headstock veneer with pearl inlay and logo. On the right, a 1998 5-string baritone (19.5-inch scale) with Honduras mahogany body, maple neck, ebony trim, Ping tuners, Kent Armstrong magnetic pickups, Mike Christian piezo saddles and preamp.
