Jim is a retired welder/machinist from Illinois who's been building instruments for about 10 years. Here's an unusual solidbody electric mandola, patterned after a vintage three-point Gibson instrument. It's all maple (back, top, neck, and fretboard), with a pair of EMG Select pickups. The scale length is 20 inches, so it might actually work better as an octave mandolin.
