Daniel operates DS Guitars, a Swiss custom builder. He offers three electric mandolin models, two of which are pictured above. Daniel writes: "I started at zero with this mandolin. I designed and built a new string holder (for both ball-end and loop-end strings), an adjustable tailpiece and specially wired electric pickups. After a lot of experiments and changes, I got very good results. The mandolin has two pickups, a 3-way toggle switch, and volume and tone pots. The sound has surprised a lot of musicians"—among whom are Eric Gorfain and Paul Van Bruystegem.
