Proprietor of Old Wave Instruments in New Mexico, Bill is best known for his acoustic mandolins, but he makes the occasional custom novelty instrument. On the left: the Bussmann "Guppy" 8-string solidbody electric, built for one Bruce Bergethon, the general manager of WGLT-FM public radio in Bloomington, Illinois. Says Bill: "May God help me if I ever make another one." On the right: the Bussmann "U-Pick" acoustic/electric "melondolin," of which Bill has already made two, God help him.
