NewMAD offers A- and F-style mandolins made of carbon fiber, which resists temperature and humidity, yet has acoustic characteristics remarkably similar to good old wood. You could play one of these during a downpour and it would stay in tune.

Schertler dynamic pickups are available as an option on Mix mandolins. You might not want to plug it in during a downpour, but you could.
