Quilter MicroPro
Quilter MicroPro Mach 2 1x8 200w solid state combo amp. $850.
What's the ultimate electric mandolin amp? It just might be this one. I first learned about Quilter MicroPro amps from Seattle musician Pete Martin, who uses one for playing jazz and Western swing on electric mandolin. One night Pete and I both showed up for a rare gig by Western swing icon Scotty Broyles, who was 88 at the time ... and Scotty was also using one of these: a Quilter MicroPro Mach 2 with an 8" speaker. It is an incredibly versatile amp with more features than I could hope to take advantage of. It offers six different amp models with a wide range of tones; I've even used mine with an acoustic mandolin for a classical gig with a symphony.
The MicroPro also exists with 10" and 12" speakers, but the 8" speaker seems best suited to the mandolin's tonal range—plus, it's small and easy to carry around. Be ready for almost anything with this amp.       This one is very slightly used, with only a little wear on the handle. Complete with cover, footswitch, cable, and power cord. The MSRP is $1,300 and they're commonly available new for $999, but you can save some coin on this one. Kindly call 425/772-0231, or for more information. $850 plus shipping.
