Here's a Barker Vertical Bass, model B1, by Lee Barker of Oregon. These are the best electric upright basses I've ever tried,
with superior playability, tone, and sustain.
It has a 34" scale Fender Jazz-type neck, 1.5" wide at the nut, made of select hard rock maple with rosewood fretboard. It attaches to the body with 5 bolts.
The multi-ply body is 2"
thick, with a hand-rubbed, semigloss natural-finish on a knotty pine top with
a mahogany back. Heavy cast roller bridge and
fully adjustable endpin. Two passive Basslines pickups, with tone, volume, and
Serial #03 0010. Judging from the low number and non-cutaway construction, this is an early Barker instrument, circa 2002–03.
Near mint condition.
Includes a heavy woven nylon abrasion-resistant padded gig bag with hand and shoulder straps and zippered pocket.
A new Barker B1 sells for $3,795, and secondhand ones are rarely encountered.
