Michigan luthier Bruce Herron has been making fun, affordable electric Blue
Star Mandoblasters for as long as I can remember, and that's quite a track
record. You may have seen Blue Stars in the hands of pro players like Otis
Taylor, Bucky Baxter (with Bob Dylan), or Don Herron of BR5-49.
Here's a 4-string Mandoblaster with red "psycho-burst" phenolic
finish, a single-coil lipstick-tube pickup, 2-piece black/pearloid
pickguard, volume and tone controls, tuneable bridge with 4 fully
adjustable saddles, 14" scale length,
1-3/8" nut width, rosewood fretboard with standard mandolin fretwire, and
1-piece maple neck. Individual Gotoh tuners. The new list price on a Mandoblaster
is $850. Get one here for less.
Serial number is 390; it is used, but in very good
condition. The original single-coil pickup has been replaced with a
twin-blade humbucker, and a new pickguard was installed to accommodate
the new pickup. (The original pickup & pickguard will be included in the
Blue Star decal intact. Gig bag included, or
upgrade to a hardshell case.
