The well-known guitar company has offered cookie-cutter electric mandolins for years (see the A100E, below). But the 2006 instrument above is the first truly distinctive Alvarez mandolin I've seen. It isn't on the Alvarez Web site yet, so I don't know the model number. No soundholes. Highly figured maple back. I'm intrigued.
