If I remember correctly, Mr. Allen was an apprentice to Paul Bigsby, and acquired some of Bigsby's parts and templates, which he used to make these beasts—which are more or less copies of the doubleneck that Bigsby made for Grady Martin. The difference, of course, is that the mandolin neck here has 8 strings as opposed to 5.
